Social services in Barcelona actively seek out homeless people offering them shelter from the cold.
In a statement, the council of the Catalan capital reports that have cleared the snow alert that was activated before a cold front reached the region, forecast from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia
They have attended to 101 homeless people, 91 of which have accepted shelter from the cold and spent the night in municipal shelters.

A total of 38 social service professionals combed the city streets looking for rough sleepers and were successful in helping many to find shelter.
A total of 66 people spent the night in the Acacias shelter and 25 more have done in the Nou Barris. Since the operation started on Friday, it has treated 138 people, of which 118 agreed to spend the night in municipal shelters.
In the last 24 hours, City Fire services attended to cases were the strong wind had caused structural damage. Salt has also been placed at strategic points in the city ready for use if necessary to prevent accidents due to ice.
