Barcelona police officer suffers fractured skull during party fight

Meanwhile, at about 6 AM on Saturday, a local police officer was seriously injured in Barcelona while a squad of police were trying to control an illegal party of more than 1000 people held at a squatter house. He is in the hospital with a fractured skull and a severe concussion. Three other officers were injured, and nine arrests were made. Drinking and fighting among youths has gained much media attention in Spain in the last several years, and some believe that fun-loving Spanish society is too tolerant with teenage drunkenness, especially since drinking in the street (el botellon) became popular. Barcelona has passed a controversial civic behavior law in an attempt to control the problem.”
