Catalonia received 1.4 million overseas arrivals in the first two months of 2008.



The country of Spain received 6.2 million overseas visitors in the first two months of this year, an increase of 3.9 percent over the same period a year earlier, according to figures released yesterday by the Industry, Tourism and Trade Ministry. In February alone, arrivals were up 6.4 percent at 3.3 million.

The Canary Islands was the most popular destination in the two months, accounting for 1.7 million visitors, an increase of 6.8 percent.


Britain was Spain's biggest market, with 1.6 million arrivals in the two months, followed by Germany.
