Barcelona’s Joan Clos will seek re-election as city mayor

During an interview held yesterday with Josep Cuní on his TV programme ‘Els matins’, the mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, underlined the fact that he was going to return himself as a candidate of the Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) in the next set of municipal elections to be held in the Catalan capital next year. Clos stated that it was likely that he would seek re-election as the city’s mayor.

Mayor Clos also took the opportunity on the programme to discuss recent acts of vandalism to affect the city.

According to Clos ‘there exists a group of around 200 people which organise events of a violent nature.’

Furthermore, he said that he knew that ‘they live in Barcelona and have installed themselves into squatted property.’
