Car driving tourists in Barcelona can travel a little safer after Mossos arrests
The gang – ‘Los pincharruedas’ – would normally follow a tourist travelling in the car by moped or motorbike, and would cause damage to one of the back tyres of the vehicle. After alerting the driver of the car of the damaged tyre, accomplices would take advantage of the motorist being distracted and enter the car to steal valuable objects or money from it.
The police are accusing the gang of 110 crimes, including petty theft, and causing injury and robbery with violence. The head of the regional investigation team of the Mossos, Josep Lluís Trapero, said that the operation struck a blow against this type of crime.
