The Catalan Generalitat made a study of the habits of young people with mobile phones with Internet connection, from a survey of 1,035 pupils in secondary education (ESO) and, in general, reveals the increasingly intensive use of communication technology.
In fact, 92.27% of the students surveyed, aged between 12 and 16, have a cellphone, a percentage that reaches 96,71% in the case of computers, but in this case more than half use the family computer and 45% have a personal one. Regarding the computer, kids of 11 and 12 say they began using it aged 8.1 years on average.
Despite the widespread use of computers and mobiles, most high school students are not actively involved in the buying process or knows the economic value of the device since the acquisition is managed by their parents.
From a gender perspective, boys tend to connect to the Internet from their consoles at a higher rate than girls, and buy more online, while Internet downloads become more and more likely to be played on-line. The girls, however, tend to have more personal websites than their peers of the opposite sex and connect on a daily basis to personal blogs and chats.
