The housing and construction boom in Spain appears to be rapidly coming to a halt given the recent report regarding cement consumption in this country. According to stats announced this week by industry association Officemen, in the first two months of 2008, cement consumption dropped by 7% from 2007. The two months decline in cement orders and consumption has resulted in a total of 8.45 million tons thus far in this new year. Industry insiders attribute the decline to a slowing in residential construction country wide in Spain.
