Stolen car used in the bombing which injured one person in the town of Calahorra. The blast came as hundreds of people were in the streets for a traditional Easter Holy Week religious procession, which had just concluded.

The bomb exploded outside the barracks of Spain's paramilitary Guardia Civil. Reports by Spanish media said the car, a blue Honda, had been left next to the back wall of the barracks in Calahorra, a town of about 21,000 people. Two adjacent buildings were damaged and pieces of the explosives-laden car were sent flying several dozen meters according to those on the scene.

The blast occurred 30 minutes after a warning from the Basque separatist organization ETA was issued to the road services organization in the Basque Country, a traditional channel for bomb warnings from ETA.

Spainʼs Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said he "forcefully condemns this new attack by ETA."
