Between these two weekends, and especially on the 1st of August, almost half a million vehicles will leave Barcelona and its suburbs. It is hoped that August´s ‘Operation Exit’ will be staggered enough, according to predictions by Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT – Catalan Transit Service).

Of the 550,000 vehicles which will travel on the Catalan motorways, 480,000 will leave from the capital Barcelona and its metropolitan areas.

The special traffic operation began on the evening of Friday the 27th and carried on throughout the morning of Saturday the 28th of July. Rush hours registered preferably between 2pm and 10pm Friday and between 10am and 4pm on Saturday.

The second phase of ‘Operation Exit’ will take place between 3pm on Tuesday the 31st of July and last for 24 hours, that is to say until 3pm on the 1st August.
