Hotel owners deny that Barcelona is attracting cheap tourism... The flow of visitors with enough purchasing power to stay in four or five star hotels has encouraged businessmen in the industry to plan the construction of another 36 establishments of both four and five stars, which will bring another 5,014 inhabitants to the city. Barcelona, which will have 49 new hotels by 2011, has doubled its supply in only a decade. In spite of that, the occupancy rate continues to increase. And the average price: 125 euros, 12% more than it was last year; is an increase of four times more than the average salary.
