Real Madrid vs Barcelona El Clásico Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid 10th April 2010 this Match could be La Liga season-deciding match Real Madrid vs. Barcelona is not a typical football derby match. For a start, there are 386 miles between the cities of Madrid and Barcelona. However, ask any fan of Real or Barca what the most important match of the season is, and they always give the same response: El Clásico.
This year, La Liga’s title race is extremely tight. With just fourteen games of the season left, Barcelona lead Real Madrid at the top by the tiny margin of two points. A win for Real Madrid at their home stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu, would mean more overtaking Barcelona in the championship. The one point lead would be no more significant than the advantage Barcelona currently hold, but the psychological effect could be devastating as the Catalan side have led the table for almost all the season. Conversely, should Barca triumph, a five point gap between them and the nearest challenger would be a tough one to overhaul.
El Clásico provides the chance to watch Lionel Messi against Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Benzema, and Xavi against Kaká. These are amongst the best players in the world, and to see them all in one place cannot be anything other than a phenomenal event.
