Rescue teams saved 43 mushroom pickers in woodland of Catalonia

Catalan mushroom pickers in the habit of getting lost and having accidents

Rescue workers of the Bomberos de la Generalitat have had to save 43 people in search of mushrooms in various woods and forests in Catalonia this autumn, mostly after having suffered a mishap during their adventures or after becoming lost.

According to a report of the Bomberos, the rescues - between 1 September and 19 October - took place in Alt Urgell (5), Berguedá (7), Cerdanya (4), Osona (4), Pallars Jussá (3), Pallars Sobirá (4), Ripollés (6) and Solsonés (3).

The rescue workers are accustomed to being called out to save mushrooms seekers in trouble during the autumn period. The Bomberos say that those in need of rescue are normally people of an advanced age, who have become disorientated by their surroundings.

oh yeah, picking mushrooms is fun. Me gusta getting disorientated. Mishaps do occur... i climbed a tree once and fell but thankfully, i was rescued.
