Rosa Díez: “what happened at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona was not freedom of expression”.
According to Diez, "that was very serious, very hard, very violent and very disheartening."
The deputy of the UPyD complained that " a guy devoted himself to making a gesture of shooting and called me fascist and murderous".
Deputy in Congress for the Union, Progress and Democracy (UPyD), Rosa Díez, today told how she endured a guy "who continued to make the gesture of shooting," while he "called me fascist and killer" during a conference at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, last Friday at the Faculty of Political Science, where there were several altercations.
According to Diez, "that was very serious, very hard, very violent and very disheartening." "I am national deputy, representative of all citizens, but in 1997 it happened to Aznar at the same university. The UAB is no stalwart for freedom of expression, rather a place for those who are enemies of those freedoms" she lamented.
In her view, everything that happened in Barcelona "was very violent and very organized," as they were not confined to "just screams" but "attempts to attack and attacks that can be seen in all the videos that are posted on Youtube". However, although the deputy UPyD leader hinted at some dissatisfaction with regional security forces, Diez said that private security and Mossos protected her from the aggressions "of those who wanted to throw things and injure us". "There are videos that would make it easy to see and identify people. I was in an another classroom for more than an hour and a half with a small group of people, and during that time, the wall, which was plasterboard, was clobbered permanently" she said.
