Thebadrash.com | Spain Herald is dead! Long live thebadrash.com!

Thebadrash.com | 05/06/06 - ‘Spain Herald is dead! Long live thebadrash.com!’
“…or so it seems, for the time being. Until the single most unpleasant, right-wing-mentalist and all-round nasty website in the world opens up again, we’re declaring victory! Street party at el font de Canaletes! To paraphrase an article I read a few months ago… journalists of the Spain Herald - now you’re unemployed, feel free to come to Barcelona in your search for new work. But watch out! Joan Clos is cracking down on prostitutes in the city, so don’t bring your mothers…”

No, Alex: John Barrass was right. I was being too rude, and he picked me up on it. I'm perfectly capable of taking someone's criticism, if they're clearly right. Thanks for your advice, though.

Tom, I think You shouldn't censor Yourself and I kindly ask You to post again that last "don't-bring-Your-mothers" phrase. It was soooo honest, came right out of Your big heart and tells the rest of the world a lot about You and Your lovely level of education...

To avoid any further offence, I'll delete my joke. I must say that the original article was far better thought out than mine, anyway.

have a nice day,
Tom

Yes, it was rude but it was more of a wind-up than anything else. Just like the original article which I was parodying. It was, in my opinion, no ruder than dozens of claims made on that website about all sorts of people with whom its editorial team does not see eye to eye.

Anyway, I thought that the tone of my paragraph about SH was pretty clearly in jest.

Tom - why be so rude?

John from Gràcia, who translates for Spain Herald, is clever, well informed and always interesting. Just because he's right wing doesn't mean he should be ignored (or pilloried). While Spain Herald is "under reconstruction" (construe that as pinko irony if you will), you can enjoy John's considered opinions on much more than just Spanish politics here:

and his earlier, searchable, long-running, pioneering and very popular blog here:

http://www.iberiannotes.blogspot.com/

I often find myself disagreeing with him (and he does have a habit of inventing statistics) but hell, that's dialectics for you.
