We are keen on advancing the concept of citizen journalism to develop home-grown content for the site and actively encourage written, audio or visual contributions (focusing on events and news affecting or of relevance to the region) from journalists, writers and members of the public living, working, studying - or simply passing through or interested in - Catalonia and the provinces of Barcelona, Lleida, Tarragona or Girona.

We aim to provide aspiring writers, citizen reporters and broadcasters a showcase within which to highlight their work and creativity online. In short, we seek to provide enthusiastic contributors - of whatever experience - exposure to their efforts, great and small.

Any report or contribution you wish to submit for publication will need to be 'on topic' and non-commercial in nature.

Examples …

Contributors: articles on local politics; cultural differences; job seeking; the environment; law enforcement; property prices; reaction to local news events; opinion on local affairs; original local experiences and other similar [requires a regular, on-going commitment; articles need to be around one page of A4 in length]

Reporters: an exhibition, theatre or concert review; a sports report; an eye-witness account; community meeting reports and other similar [submission of one-off, ad hoc item(s); articles need to be around one page of A4 in length or less)]

Your efforts need to be independent, reliable and accurate and could even be a translation into English of an article you've seen in Spanish or Catalan that you believe is worth presenting to an English-language audience.

Please note that we can only accept items written in English. And no, don't worry, you do not have to be a professional journalist or seasoned reporter to make a submission!

Remember to include your name, city/town, province and country in the email that you send us. All ‘Reporter’ contributions chosen for publication will carry the name of the writer who has produced the contribution, together with a link back (if present and wanted) to their own personal website, blog or email.

Barcelona Reporter cannot guarantee that all contributions or reports will be published and reserve the right to edit the item in agreement with the author. In all cases, you will be contacted by us before your contribution or report is published.

We do not provide monetary reward for any contribution or article which is submitted for publication.
