12,206 vehicles were abandoned in garages in Catalunya in the last year
In Spain, more than 75,000 vehicles are abandoned in this way. By autonomous communities, Catalonia and Andalusia are top of the leader board, with 12,206 and 11,060 abandoned cars, respectively
The data comes from a study by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Sellers, Repair and Parts (GANVAM).
In Spain, more than 75,000 vehicles are abandoned in this way. By autonomous communities, Catalonia and Andalusia are top of the leader board, with 12,206 and 11,060 abandoned cars, respectively. Valencia-with 10,032 cars, Madrid-Galicia with 7,624 and 5,722 vehicles are the regions most affected by this practice.
The reason the figures are so high is not known for certain, but it could be due to financial pressures, more so in this year than at any other time. The vehicles are genrally sent for scrap, however some are auctioned off so garages can recover some of the costs of the initial repairs etc.
