The president of CiU, Artur Mas, has other political groups to promote economic reforms a "road map" to end the crisis.

Speaking to RNE, Mas stated that he "stands ready to lend a hand" to "provide parliamentary support" with an economic plan that will allow Spain to "send signals of confidence, both within and outside" the country. "We have supported many types of government to succeed in times of economic difficulties," he also stated that "in international markets the Spanish Government has an inability to react" to the crisis.

The CiU leader remarked that now "is not the time for parliamentary aggressiveness, although he has admitted that a broad consensus in that it is "difficult for the traditionally ungenerous in Spain’s political history". Most felt that the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, should propose "a widely agreed policy, and not just announce proposals for the opposition to debate for hours.

Artur Mas has branded the government "lazy and unwilling" to undertake "major reforms" in spite of the economic system being in crisis for two years, he has been "skeptical" about the possibility that the executive has the "political capacity" to address real long term problems".
