Barcelona City Council will install more than 6480 extra bins in the streets of the city this year.
The mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu and Councilwoman Mayol today presented the balance of the deployment of the new Contract Cleaning and Waste Management scheme, on completion of its first phase, and the deployment of the new containers in ten districts of Barcelona.
The Councilor for the Environment, Imma Mayol announced the move during a presentation of the progress of the first four months of the new Contract Cleaning and Waste Management scheme.
"There is a lack of bins in Ciutat Vella and the areas of tourism and commercial lines," Mayol said that in addition, that "in the Eixample it could withdraw 5% of grey containers gray ( non-recyclable trash)".

The mayor, Jordi Hereu, made a "very positive assessment" of the implementation of the new contract cleaning and waste management initiative.
Hereu ensured that Barcelona has the means it deserves and the indispensable cooperation of the citizenry with whose "daily cooperation" they will get a cleaner city.
