Basque tuna trawler in the Seychelles repels attack by pirates, with private security guards
The crew of thirty seamen and four security agents fought off, around ten o'clock this morning
The Basque safety company Inpesca Bermeo (Vizcaya), has fought off an attack from group of pirates, and neither the ship nor the crew have been damaged.
The crew of thirty seamen and four security agents fought off, around ten o'clock this morning, the two skiff boats with pirates, when they were about eighty miles from the main island of Seychelles.
At that time there was a chase, as security agents made use of weapons, the source said. The pirates continued to approach the Basque tuna trawler and came within a mile, so the guards made a second burst of warning shots.
Those sources explained that the pirates did not fire at the fishing vessel and gave up after the second warning shots. The shipping company has reported what happened to the Spanish military authorities and reported that the crew is well and can again operate normally.
