Deputy Prime Minister said that the IMF are wrong in their forecasts, she is more optimistic
"We are moderately optimistic for 2010 and 2011," said the woman responsible for the Economy in the European Parliament
Deputy Prime Minister Elena Salgado made the comments on her entry into the European Parliament building in Brussels, when asked about the report released today by the International Monetary Fund, which predicts that the Spanish economy will fall 0.6% in 2010 and is the only of the major country that will continue in recession this year.

"We are moderately optimistic for 2010 and 2011," said the woman responsible for the Economy in the European Parliament, where she attended to present the economic program of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. "If you recall, in June, international agencies also forecast the worst, ultimately, convergence has been to our data" she added.
Last June, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) predicted that Spanish gross domestic product (GDP) would recede 4.2% this year and 0.9% next. In November the agency had to revise upward its forecasts for 2009 and 2010, approaching the executive perspective, limiting the decline in GDP to 3.6% and 0.3% respectively. By 2011, the OECD predicted an increase of 0.9%, while the government estimates an increase of 1.8%.
