ETA prisoners (EPPK) have initiated its “first phase” of the “protest” announced recently
In the text sent to the Basque newspaper Gara, the detainees, of the outlawed group demand the immediate release of sick prisoners and those who have served their sentence "in full or that are in the period were they are eligible for parole.
According to Europa Press, states that, after a week devoted to disseminating their initiative, the EPPK has begun the first phase of protests by in order to pressure the Spanish and French governments to change prison policy.

The 742 people who compose the group of ETA prisoners started its protest yesterday and "refused to leave their cell" and will not communicate with anyone during the duration of the initiative. Its goal states they want the two governments "to recognize their political status and cease the violations of their rights".

On Monday, Gara reported that the EPPK started "a process of struggle in response to the repressive new twists and turns that have occurred in recent months" and that, in their view, seek to "condition the opening of a new political cycle of Euskal Herria ".
In a statement the group of prisoners also explained that five people had "chosen to be outside the discipline" of this group. Those expelled are Iñaki Rekarte, Valentin Lasarte, Esteban Murillo, Jorge Munoz Urruñuela and Andoni.
