This week, YouTube will launch an initiative in the United States of a digital "video store" where people can pay to view five independent films shown at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The goal is to expand the supply gradually.

Google YouTube - According to the manager for its partners in Europe, Patrick Walker, the experiences with U2 last year and this year with Alicia Keys, the concerts funded by advertising and free for users, worked very well.This week, YouTube will launch an initiative in the United States of a digital "video store" where people can pay to view five independent films shown at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

The goal is to expand the supply gradually.

"In the future, the portal will be funded mainly through advertising, but the contents for payment may be significant in some segments" said Walker.

According to walker, YouTube is not a problem for most labels. Many artists have their own spaces on the service, not just to show videos, but to market or sell T-shirts and concert tickets.

This happened, for example, with the Scottish Susan Boyle: The program "Britain's Got Talent" was only in the UK by ITV, "but thanks to YouTube, went round the world."
