King of Spain expressed his “heartfelt” deepest condolences” loss of life in earthquake in Haiti
For his part, President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in Vienna today urged all countries and citizens of the European Union (EU) to increase its aid for Haiti. Zapatero described what happened in Haiti as "very grave tragedy and a drama" with "great devastation and deathly consequences".
The King made time to remind all of the devastating loss of life in Haiti during his address to the diplomatic corps in Spain, at a reception in which both the King and Princes of Asturias had the opportunity to personally express their condolences to the Haitian Embassy in Madrid,

Yolette Azor Charles, with who he have stopped to chat for a few seconds as ambassadors lined up to greet their Majesties.
Also, the papal nuncio, Renzo Fratini, as dean of the diplomatic corps in Spain, had words of affection, in his speech, regarding the "needy families" of those countries that have been "flogged" by natural disasters or terrorist attacks.

Zapatero described what happened in Haiti as "very grave tragedy and a drama" with "great devastation and deathly consequences". "The international community must react. Europe will do and is doing. The Spanish presidency (EU) is mobilizing all resources and capacities to alleviate the situation in Haiti," Zapatero said.
In turn, the Spanish prime minister outlined the measures taken by Spain so far, including the shipment to the devastated area of several planes with rescue and emergency equipment and personnel.
