Mari Luz's father advises the PP on the Criminal Code Reform

The PP leader, Mariano Rajoy, has held a meeting with Juan Jose Cortes, the father of the girl, Mari Luz, from Huelva murdered in January 2008, at which he agreed to join the People's Party to advise on Penal Code reform.

Cortes came to the PP headquarters in Madrid and held a meeting with Rajoy, as well as the deputy secretary and party president popular in Andalucía, Javier Arenas, and the Mayor of Huelva, Pedro Rodríguez. In it, as reported by sources of the CP, they exchanged views on the parliamentary proceedings of the Penal Code and after the end of the meeting it was announced that, as of now, Juan José Cortés is to provide advice led by Mariano Rajoy.

The PP, like the father of Mari Luz, has been advocating that the Criminal Code should be tougher for those who commit crimes in which the victims are particularly vulnerable, including children.

Cortes has highlighted the opportunity of working with the PP to improve justice and said that unless the government increases the penalties for those who commit crimes against children, it will be done by the hand of Mariano Rajoy.
