Pathologist dies of suspected Creutzfeldt-Jakob (Mad cow disease)

The head of the Department of Pathology at the University Hospital in Madrid, Antonio Ruiz Villaescusa, has died a probable diagnosis is that of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (mad cow disease).
Due to the work that the deceased was involved in which, was to establish if the disease is passed on to people who have been exposed to infected tissue.
The Head of Pathology Department of the Fundación Alcorcón, Dr. Radish, will perform an autopsy to clarify that this is indeed the cause of death and his final results will be announced in about a month.
Dr. Ruiz, who died last night, was recognized nationally and internationally in the fields of neuropathology and anatomopatología, after devoting much of his professional life to the study of human transmissible spongiform encephalopathy.
