Ryanair: “The British Airways-Iberia merger is like two drunks trying to stand”.
The planned merger between British Airways (BA) and Iberia is like "two drunks trying to stand," referring to the situation of losses and labour disputes facing both companies, said spokesman for the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, Stephen Mc Namara
"The flagship carriers throughout Europe are waving the white flag because they can not compete with our strong growth," says the 'low cost' airline.
The planned merger between British Airways (BA) and Iberia is like "two drunks trying to stand," referring to the situation of losses and labour disputes facing both companies, said spokesman for the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, Stephen Mc Namara. In a statement, McNamara said "flagship airlines throughout Europe are waving the white flag because they can not compete with the strong growth of Ryanair, and find that" consolidation is their only way out. "
McNamara insists that the policy of low rates along with the commitment not to apply any fuel surcharge will continue promoting the growth of Ryanair, which describes itself as "the world's favourite airline".
According to the company, known for its aggressive advertising style, eventually there will be only four major airlines in Europe: BA, Air France, Lufthansa and Ryanair, of which only the Irish is committed to offering low fares and no extra charges.
Ryanair concludes that the company resulting from the merger between BA and the Spanish "will transport 60 million passengers, with a decrease in traffic of between 4 and 10 per cent", while Ryanair will continue to grow, carrying some 66 million passengers this year "while having" a growth rate of 15 percent annually".
