Entertainment Network has interviewed over 2075 Spanish internet users and one of the main conclusions is that there is a 'gap' in the provision of service operators. In this regard, Sánchez-Ocaña Alejandro Suárez, CEO of Entertainment Networks, said that this is a historical grievance and one of the factors that make Spain a differentiating factor with northern Europe, the enormous digital divide, in comparative Internet connections.
The price and lack of development in certain areas means the average connection in Spain stood at 51% of households below the European average, which is around 60%.
Moreover, the survey reveals that the vast majority of users surf the Web from private homes-approximately 87% - 29.3% from work. 20.2% of Internet users use the mobile phone to connect to the web.
Cell phone use for this purpose is higher among young people, aged 21 to 40 years. There are differences in different regions. Navarra and Madrid are the communities that most use mobile phones to access Internet while Extremadura, Andalusia, Canary and Balearic Islands, the least.
Finally, half the users interviewed stated that they spent more time on the internet than the previous year, representing an increase in hours spent navigating the audiovisual content that the Internet offers. It is in Cantabria, Madrid and Aragon where people acknowledge spending more time hooked to the Internet.
