Spain - La Caixa will consider the sale of its branch network

The bank are considering the idea after learning the results of a Deloitte report, Europa reported sources close to the process.

This option comes at a time when they have already implemented the big Spanish banks, Santander and BBVA, and now weigh the largest savings bank, although sources of the entity chaired by Isidre Fainé declined to comment on the subject.

La Caixa has the largest branch network in the country with around 5,500, and there are other cases that have used this formula for 'sale & lease back', which means they sell the ownership of the premises but remain as tenants, as in the case of Caixa Catalunya.
