Spain’s Former Minister Criticizes Zapatero's Management In Vanity Fair
Former socialist minister Felipe González Carlos Solchaga said that José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero lives in a "presidential world" in his ministers are "like secretaries".

In an interview with the magazine 'Vanity Fair', whose November issue goes on sale today, former Minister of Industry, Economy and Finance, during the government of Felipe González, openly criticized Zapatero's management. "The mistake of Zapatero's policy is that it focuses on him, implicitly neglecting the role of Government and Public Administration," says Solchaga.

The Socialist leader said that "the Government is a collegial body of decision-making, and advises Zapatero to delegate responsibilities to preserve his status if wants to win elections."

As for the removal from office of former Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Solbes, Solchaga believes that the problem was that "when there was a confrontation over economic policy decisions between the President and Finance Minister, Zapatero always prevailed". For that, in his view, the Zapertero needed a minister "with a profile" different to Solbes. In this sense, Solchaga does not know the "deep convictions" of the current Economy Minister Elena Salgado.

Also remember that "one of the most important facets denoting the ability of a leader is to have better partners than yourself, something that, in his opinion, happened to Felipe González, who chose them "without fear". As for the General State Budget (PGE) for 2010 he states that as a result of an unprecedented recession, it is not intended to satisfy anyone
