Spain’s Interior Minister, Rubalcaba said that recorded crime in 2009 is the lowest of the decade.
That crime rate, which reflects the number of crimes and misdemeanours, stood at 45.8 offences per thousand inhabitants, 1.8 points less than in 2008 (47.6) and 6.3 points below the record high in 2002 (52.1).
The crime rate fell by 3.7 percent in 2009 over the previous year, as reported by Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, who has assured that recorded crime last year reached its lowest level the last decade.
That crime rate, which reflects the number of crimes and misdemeanours, stood at 45.8 offences per thousand inhabitants, 1.8 points less than in 2008 (47.6) and 6.3 points below the record high in 2002 (52.1).
This is the lowest rate since 2000, announced the minister during his appearance at the Congress of Deputies to report the crime figures for 2009 in Spain.
The Security Forces of the State recorded 1,777,465 crimes and misdemeanours, 80,731 less than 2008, indicated Perez Rubalcaba, who has shown pleased because all the major criminal offences, fell significantly.
Such crimes rose from 35.1 offences per thousand inhabitants in 2008 to 33.2 last year.
