Spanish-French operation has dismantled an organization seeking to introduce 189 kilos of cocaine into Spain

The eleven members arrested in both countries hid drugs in vehicles from the Balearic Islands. The National Police, in collaboration with the Central Office for International Traffic in Narcotic Drugs of Nanterre and the Judicial Police of Toulon, spotted this group of large-scale drug traffickers in the province of Alicante and the rest of its membersin locations such as Marseilles, Toulon and Paris.

After eleven months of investigation, officials warned that the smugglers were preparing a large consignment of cocaine to be distributed between Spain and France. According to investigators, the organization chose the port of Barcelona in an attempt to bring in the drugs that were hidden in a vehicle.

Among the gangs precautionary measures, the group postponed their return to the mainland by simulating a vacation. However, they did not succeeded evading the police, who managed to intercept the car and found some holes or 'bays' on the front and rear bumpers, hiding cocaine in sealed thermos bags. Despite the stratagems, the officers located the 189 packets of cocaine sealed and vacuum packed.
Police then got ready for an immediate and simultaneous operation between the two countries for the arrest of other members of this group.

After intercepting the shipment of cocaine in Barcelona, investigators arrested, in the town of Alfaz del Pi (Alicante), a French citizen NA and his girlfriend, of Russian origin.

Subsequently three searches were carried out, two in Alfaz del Pi Alicante, where police found 30,000 euros in cash, numerous false documents, large numbers of mobile devices, a large displacement motorcycle and several cars.

For its part, French officials arrested eight others. Their homes were also raided, they found, false documents, mobile phones, computers, equipment used for cutting and the distribution of drugs and a bulletproof vest, among other effects.
