TechCrunch lays off one of it workers for accepting bribes
This trend is noticed more in specialized fields, especially in the case of technology and consumer electronics, which is found in blogs, the most and best source of information and opinion
The Internet has radically changed the way in which we learn and communicate. The media, the so-called fourth estate, is increasingly powerful. Their influence on consumer decision making has shifted largely to websites not owned by media companies, which traditionally have served as mediators between businesses and consumers.
This trend is noticed more in specialized fields, especially in the case of technology and consumer electronics, which is found in blogs, the most and best source of information and opinion. TechCrunch is one of the reference sites in this area. Not surprisingly, Alexa's ranking indicates that it is among the 177 most visited websites in the United States.
Its influence on consumers, therefore, is strong : a positive review on TechCrunch for a product and service has significant commercial impact. So, as with the press, the contributors of such blogs are supposed to implement journalistic ethics. However as with some professionals, there are 'black sheep'.
Daniel Brusilovsky, a student and entrepreneur of just 17, was dismissed yesterday from TechCrunch as he, on at least two occasions, accepted bribes in exchange for writing blog entries.
The defendant has acknowledged his guilt and apologized on his personal blog.
