This request has been agreed in full after the recent murder of an elderly woman and her son in a bar in Barcelona and after the shootout last night in the city during a robbery in a brothel, in which two police were shot.

The city of Barcelona to recruit 1400 more police, although Barcelona mayor says crime is not a problem in the city.

Barcelona City Council has agreed today, to increase the total number of police in the city by 1,400 to deal with insecurity.

This request has been agreed in full after the recent murder of an elderly woman and her son in a bar in Barcelona and after the shootout last night in the city during a robbery in a brothel, in which two police were shot.

The document approved meets the ratio adopted by the Parliament of 2.5 Autonomous Police per 1,000 population, which should increase, for the city of Barcelona, 2,634 to 4,000.
