In the Congress of Deputies the CiU has registered a bill that aims to urge the Government to introduce a deduction in the corporation tax of 50% of the costs to businesses relating to advertising.

The Catalan federation warned that the advertising industry and media uses advertising as one of its main sources of funding, and "have been hard hit by the crisis, which has reduced the levels of advertising investment by 25 % and 30% in the first nine months of the year".
Many types of media, due to the crisis, have "seriously damaged their economic performance" and incurring losses "unsustainable in the short and medium term," a particularly serious situation for the press, radio, television and electronic media are the "guarantees of the exercise of public freedoms" which includes the Spanish Constitution.
CiU further notes that in the current economic situation it is a "must" to take urgent measures to encourage private consumption and in this regard recalls the "important role" in the advertising industry as an "incentive" for consumers.
