The Popular Party to hold a convention in Barcelona, 13 and 15 November 2009
Along with a poster with the theme of the event, proposals for change, responsible for the PP and Electoral Organization, Ana Mato, and the coordinator of the Convention, Baudilio Tome, presented at a press conference
PP party leaders, operatives and party guests will gather with the intention of renewing its proposals as the party of the government in Spain and Catalonia.
Along with a poster with the theme of the event, proposals for change, responsible for the PP and Electoral Organization, Ana Mato, and the coordinator of the Convention, Baudilio Tome, presented at a press conference a conclave distributed into nine discussion tables and seven discussion forums, as well as in different areas of new technologies and exhibitions.
The popular party president, Mariano Rajoy, will attend the three days of the Convention to hear the proposals discussed therein and to have several meetings with representatives of civil society. A special forum is to take place, "I have a question for you", although in this case the questions are asked by the youth of the PP. Also he will meet with the presidents of his party over lunch on Saturday the 14th.
Mato has denied that PP internal conflicts persist, as the National Executive Committee last Tuesday's closed completely, and therefore the party "is now stronger", in that spirit grassroot leaders will go to Barcelona.
But more than the presence of the most important leaders of the PP, as Mato assumes that all will attend, the party has given importance to the participation of 37 experts who "have nothing to do" with the PP. "We will end the notion that the actions of political forces are made just for television". Therefore, every speech, every forum, can be followed on the PP website, and also citizens can submit their proposals through the Internet.
Then, the PP will collect each and they will be discussed internally, and thus gradually draw its final program for government. Also, Mato has claimed the importance of holding the event in Barcelona and, for the purpose, apart from reinforcing the alternative to the government, of growing as a party in Catalonia.
