It all started at midday, Sunday, when the tornado felled "hundreds" of trees and damaged many others, leaving a surreal landscape
A tornado on Sunday declared in the town of Jerez de Badajoz uprooted and damaged branches of hundreds of oak and cork trees in several farms in the township.
The strength of this meteorological phenomenon caused the destruction of over "500" trees, according to preliminary estimates by the owners of the farms where the phenomenon happened that has "never been seen" in these lands and affected a radius of "eight-nine kilometres", said one of the owners of the farms affected, Francisco Vazquez.
It all started at midday, Sunday, when the tornado felled "hundreds" of trees and damaged many others, leaving a surreal landscape.
For owners of the farms Monday dawned like a tree cemetery, as is the case of Aniceto Jimenez, what happened is "huge" and has resulted in "irreparable harm" to these areas from the point of the ecologically, since the bulk of the felled trees were exemplary and in other cases "ancient."
For example, one owner, showed one of the oldest oaks that was affected by the tornado, there are several thought to be over a "thousand years" old that weigh in around "15,000 kg".
These figures gives an idea of the size of the tornado that was felt in this area of the southern province of Badajoz. The sound was incredible "it was as if it would break the land," said Aniceto, who called the phenomenon as "indescribable".
