Penelope Cruz Broken Embraces by Pedro Almodovar nominated for best director Cruz best actress
The film was chosen at the Alberto Iglesias European Film Academy Awards, who chose as French favorite was "The Prophet" and Britain's "Slumdog Millionaire". The French film "A Prophet" (The Prophet) has received six nominations, and Britain's "Slumdog Millionaire" five, to which European film awards given annually by the European Film Academy (EFA), including best picture and best director.
"The Prophet", in addition to best picture, has been chosen for the award for best director, Jacques Audiard, Best Screenplay, Jacques Audiard and Thomas Bidegain; Carlo di Palma the best director of photography, Stephane Fontaine; for best actor.
The awards, which are given on December 12 in Germany were announced at a ceremony held in Seville on the sixth annual European Film Festival, held in the Andalusian capital until 15 November. "Slumdog Millionaire," directed by Danny Boyle, is candidate for best European film of 2009, for best director, best actor (Dev Patel), the best writer (Simon Beaufoy) and best cinematographer (Anthony Dod Mantle) .
The director of "Antichrist," Lars Van Trier, is a candidate for best European director, and the film also features, for Best Actress (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and Best Cinematography (Anthony Dod Mantle). They have also selected as candidates for Britain's best European film "Fish Tank", written and directed by Andrea Arnold, "Let the right one in", the Swede, Tomas Alfredson, "The Reader," British-German co-production directed by Daldry Syephen and "The white ribbon," directed by Michael Haneke also involving Germany, Austria, France and Italy.
The 2,000 members of the European Film Academy will now be responsible for picking winners from the candidates, in the gala scheduled for Dec. 12 in Westphalia.
In today's event, a video with "emotional" moments of European cinema and various galas, one of which was Almodovar 'boy," directed by, Marion Döring, and the director Roman Polanski, who isimprisoned in Switzerland for an alleged rape committed 32 years ago.
