Six babies suffering from ‘poisoning’ in at a nursery in Vigo, four hospitalized
The number of babies affected by "poisoning" in a nursery in Vigo was "at least" six, according to court officials, that also confirmed today that the court has provisionally ordered the closure of two classrooms at a private school, located in the district of Navia.
A total of four babies, from zero to two years, were admitted to the Hospital de Vigo Xeral with symptoms of poisoning - police are investigating whether they were given a sedative - presenting symptoms such as drowsiness.
Besides them, other children that attended the centre were tested, although in these cases were not hospitalized.
According to Europa Press, local health officials said that three of the four were discharged yesterday and are all in good health. These same sources confirmed that currently there is no child hospitalized resulting from these poisonings.
Moreover, judicial sources explained that the magistrate No. 4 of Vigo, on duty when the events occurred, has failed, so far, to take a statement from any person, however police investigation continues. They also underscored that there is no defendant.
These same sources said that the measures taken by the judge, "have been efforts to safeguard the safety of minors" and therefore have proceeded in a precautionary manner.
