Spain remains the highest of all EU member countries, with an unemployment rate of 19.5%
The unemployment rate in Spain, which increased by one tenth compared with November, well above the data of Slovakia (13.6%) or Ireland (13.3%), second and third member of the OECD with the highest unemployment rate.
Compared with December 2008, the unemployment rate in Spain rose 4.7 percentage points, the second largest rise in the OECD after Ireland, where unemployment rose by 5 percentage points in annual terms.
On the other hand, the rate of unemployment in the euro zone increased in the tenth month of December compared with November, up to 10%, which was also recorded in the last month in the U.S., where the data is unchanged in comparison the previous month.
On-year, the unemployment rate rose 1.8 percentage points in the eurozone and 2.6 percentage points in the North American country. Among the major European economies, unemployment in December remained at 10% in France and 7.5% in Germany.
In Italy, the unemployment rate rose two tenths compared with November, to 8.5%, and 1.5 percentage points compared to the same month of 2008.
