Thousands of people accompanied the funeral procession of Miguel Delibes in Valladolid

Thousands of people accompanied the procession to the Cathedral of Valladolid to show their respects as the writer Miguel Delibes Valladolid was laid to rest.

Around 12:05 pm, the grandchildren of the writer carried the coffin to the car to the loud applause from the thousands of people who wanted to accompany Miguel Delibes in his last farewell.

Over 20,000 people passed through the funeral chapel containing the remains of Miguel Delibes. The trickle of anonymous public of all ages was consistent to the extent that the City of Valladolid was forced to triple the books of remembrance where residents put their feelings and messages of condolence to the family of someone who has been one of the most illustrious figures in the city.

Besides the anonymous citizens also wanted to personally express their condolences to the family, President of the Board, Juan Vicente Herrera, Minister of Culture, Ángeles González Sinde, the Deputy Prime Minister Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, the deputy director of SAR, Jose Antonio Pascual, Valladolid actresses Concha Velasco and Lola Herrera Gustavo, writers Martín Garzo and Joaquin Diaz theatre director Fernando Urdiales, the poet Antonio Hill, and the singer Amancio Prada. Moreover, from the Royal House came a telegram signed by the King, who also sent a wreath, like the Princes of Asturias.

Miguel Delibes will rest beside his wife, Angela de Castro, who died in 1974 and whom the writer described as his "balance".
